About me
ABOUT ME

Hi, nice to meet you.  I am Amori.

I

am a farm girl at heart: bare feet clambering over jagged rocks; dirty, calloused hands running over the crops growing in barren soil. My ears are filled with the crunch of the gravel road under dusty car tyres, which fills me with nostalgia and sadness. My spirit rests in the expanses of the Namib desert, where I find freedom, a sense of belonging and inner peace.

There’s more to each of us than meets the eye. Our lives are made up of the things we enjoy and experience daily. Our personal and professional lives interconnect and shape our minds, body, and soul.

Amori Struwig

I have drawers full of notebooks filled with my favorite quotes, inspirational messages, and daily motivations that resonate with my soul. I obsessively underline passages in books that feed my soul and resonate with my spirit. My phone gallery is filled with saved messages, quotations, photos, and quotes that ignite my heart and feed the fire of love, wisdom, and advice I want to share with the world.
The written word keeps me curious, humble, and excited. Twenty-six letters purposefully rearranged can solve the universe’s riddles, transform a soul, and lead us to an imaginary world far away.

Words and books have fascinated me from a very young age. From the day I saw the word “telecommunication” spilled across the entire width of a newspaper page, I’ve been fascinated with reading and writing. In the lonely world of boarding school, books became my refuge, therapist, educator, and savior.
I have a Master’s degree in Marketing and a Ph.D. in business management. I walked away from the academic world because of the discrimination against women in the late 1980s. I abandoned my dreams of thriving in the corporate world because of the lack of authenticity.

Instead, I’ve been carving at jagged edges, striving to find a sense of belonging and comfort in the environments I build around me. I’ve tried my hands at high-end jewelry design, diamond grading, and gemstone classification. I’ve sold handmade masterpieces to the rich, the famous, and the aspiring.
My life has taken me on the unpredictable adventures of motherhood and navigating the unchartered waters of a successful marriage.

I’ve helped several medical specialists to set up, re-evaluate and manage their medical practices. I have helped build my husband’s busy plastic surgery practice, and I continue to work by his side. Together we have developed a unique approach to patient care, and our patients have become our extended family.
During the last ten years, I’ve discovered the wonder of human skin and dedicated part of my life to empowering my skincare clients to embrace healthy skin.
I’m venturing into new avenues soon – I’m planning to study nutrition and healthy eating and venturing into the coaching field.
This blog is all about me and my passions in life.

  • Business Musings –  My family has always had business ventures to be independent, survive, and live on their own terms. I studied business for this exact reason, and it remains the essence of my identity. The building blocks of any business are the same, and I’ll share my ideas with you.
  • Mindful Living –   You’ll find it here if you need endless motivation, inspiration, and positive thoughts. I collect inspiration from the entire world and enrich my life with these. It is my privilege to share them with you. I hope you find something here to sustain you when you need inspiration.
  • My Favourite Books – I’ve survived childhood by escaping to the adventures of the books I read. I’ve found my mentors in books and shaped my life on the people I’ve met between the pages of books. Discover my favorite books to enrich your life, heal your spirit, teach you about new things, and read for pure enjoyment.
  • Find Your Fire – Sometimes, we need a pep talk. We need to dig deep, find inspiration, and talk loudly to ourselves. Here is where I find my fire. I hope you find yours too.
  • Magical Memories – Our past shapes our future. I’m petrified of forgetting what a wonderful life lies behind me, so I share my most personal, magical memories with you. I hope these take you on a journey with me, even just for entertainment.
  • Worldly Pleasures – Good food, good wine, beautiful clothes. Art, poetry, music. Theatre and Drama. Beautiful cars and beautiful museums. I share my worldly pleasures with you – to explore, to enjoy, to inspire.
